Meghalaya TET 2025: Online Applications are invited for Meghalaya Teacher Eligibility Test 2025 (MTET 2025) from citizens of India who are permanent residents of the State of Meghalaya for Lower Primary (Classes I-V) and Upper Primary (Classes VI -VIII) Levels to be held on the 25th April 2025. Eligible candidates can apply online from 7th February 2025 to 24th February 2025.
Exam Name: Meghalaya Teacher Eligibility Test 2025
- Age limit: There shall be no age limit for candidates applying and appearing for MTET.
- Medium of Examination: The Medium of Examination shall be English except for Language papers.
- Validity of Meghalaya MTET 2025: The validity period of MTET qualifying certificate shall remain valid for life.
MTET 2025 Eligibility Criteria:
Classes I – V (Lower Primary)
Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-Year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)
OR
Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and 2-Year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms & Procedure), Regulations, 2002
OR
Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-Year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)
OR
Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-Year Diploma in Education (Special Education)
OR
Graduation and 2-Year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)
OR
A person who is pursuing any of the Teacher Education Courses (recognized by the NCTE or the RCI, as the case may be) specified in the NCTE Notification dated 23rd August 2010.
Class VI – VIII (Upper Primary)
Graduation and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)
OR
At least 50% marks either in Graduation or in Post-Graduation Bachelor in Education (B.Ed). Graduation with at least 45% and 1-Year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations issued from time to time in this regard.
OR
Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-Year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)
OR
Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4 year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A. Ed./ B.Sc. Ed.
OR
Graduation with at least 50% marks and 1-Year B.Ed. (Special Education)
OR
A person who is pursuing any of the Teacher Education Courses (recognized by the NCTE or the RCI, as the case may be) specified in the NCTE Notification dated 23rd August 2010.
Note: Provided that minimum percentage in Graduation shall not be applicable to those ncumbents who had already taken to the Bachelor of Education or Bachelor of Elementary Education or equivalent course prior to 29.07.2011.
Relaxation up to 5% in the qualifying marks in the minimum Educational Qualification for eligibility shall be allowed to the candidates belonging to reserved categories, such as SC/ST/OBC/OST/ OSC and Persons with Disabilities .
Only Diploma/Degree Course in Teacher Education recognized by the NCTE only shall be considered. However, in case D.Ed (Special Education) and B.Ed (Special Education), a course recognized by the RCI only shall be considered.

Intetested and eligile candidates may apply online for the Meghalaya TET 2025 through the Meghalaya Education Department wesite from https://megeducation.gov.in or https://dert.megeducation.gov.in from 07.02.2025 to 24.02.2025 up to 05:00 PM.
Date for Meghalaya TET 2025 exam is 25th April 2025.
MTET 2025 Exam Pattern
The Meghalaya Teacher Eligibility Test shall consist of a Written Examination. All questions will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), each carrying one mark, with four alternatives, out of which only one option will be correct. There will be no negative marking.
The Written Examination will consist of 2 Papers.
- Paper I (LP) will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for Classes I – V.
- Paper II (UP) will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for Classes VI – VIII.
A person who intends to be a teacher for both Classes I to V and for Classes VI – VIII will have to appear in both papers (i.e. Paper I & Paper II)
PAPER– I (for Classes I-V) Lower Primary (LP)
- Child Development and Pedagogy 30 MCQs 30 Marks
- Language I (Khasi/ Garo/ Assamese/ Bengali/ Hindi/ Nepali): 30 Marks
- Language II (English): 30 Marks
- Mathematics: 30 Marks
- Environmental Studies: 30 Marks
PAPER- II (for Classes VI-VIII) Upper Primary (UP)
- Child Development and Pedagogy (Compulsory): 30 Marks
- Language I (Compulsory) (Khasi/ Garo/ Assamese/Bengali/ Hindi/Nepali/ Urdu/ Mizo): 30 Marks
- Language II- Compulsory (English):
- (a) For Mathematics and Science Teacher (Mathematics & Science) or (b) For Social Science Teacher (Social Science): 60 Marks
- For a candidate who intends to be a teacher at the Upper Primary Level, he/she must appear in i, ii, iii and in either iv (a) or iv (b).

Examination Fees
- Paper– I (Lower Primary): Rs. 800/- for General and Rs. 400/- for SC/ST/ OBC/OST/ OSC.
- Paper– II (Upper Primary): Rs. 800/- for General and Rs. 400/- for SC/ST/ OBC/OST/ OSC.
- For both papers: Rs. 1600/- for General and Rs. 800/- for SC/ST/ OBC/OST/ OSC.
- PwD candidates are exempted from paying Examination Fees.
